Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted. ~ David Bly
Happy Monday!
I am seriously on my grind. Not only am I taking a full course load this term (3 classes), I’m also participating in a 5-week entrepreneurial bootcamp, courtesy of the State of Delaware and the Kauffman Foundation.
Sidebar: I really have to give the Delaware Economic Development Office kudos for being super supportive of entrepreneurs and small businesses. They provide a host of FREE programs, and I intend to partake in as many as I can. (Last month, I attended a 3-day e-commerce marketing class. It was excellent, and I met several other entrepreneurs I’ve added to my network.)
Today starts week 3 of classes and week 2 of bootcamp, and things are starting to get a little hectic. Doing both simultaneously wasn’t ideal, but I felt compelled to take advantage while the getting’s good. I’ve had a business idea I’ve wanted to explore, and bootcamp provides the perfect forum. It’s a lot of work, but the program has proven to be very successful. All the facilitators are entrepreneurs currently running their own businesses, so the insights they’re able to provide are invaluable.
I’m behind in my reading, which has me a little concerned, because mid-terms are next week. But, I went in knowing this would be a rough 8 weeks, and I’m committed to seeing it through. I’ve had to tell myself over an over, “I’ll sleep when I’m done.”
Two of my classes are somewhat math intensive, and I’m so not a numbers person. It’s not that I’m not good at math… Honestly, I don’t like it because I have to work hard at it. I labor over some of the problems for hours. But, I get such a high when I finally figure them out. I’m far less intimidated than I was at the start of the semester, so I’m almost confident I can pull it off. (“I’ll sleep when I’m done.”)
Being super busy has really helped me appreciate the power of being organized, which is not always my strong suit. It’s also forcing me to adopt better habits–like going to bed earlier, so I get a good night’s sleep and am ready to rise, shine and take on the new day. The more I accomplish, the more I’m inspired, so I’m moving full speed ahead.
I love Mondays!
