I once asked my former boss, whom I much admire, how she climbed the corporate ranks–what she felt contributed most to her success. (She landed her first VP job in her 30s.)
Her response: “The hook-up.”
More so than school, working hard and/or doing all the so-called right things, she’s found that the single biggest factor is someone taking you under his or her wing and “hooking you up.”
So, in honor of Alonda Williams, this page is dubbed “The Hook-Up.”
I’m not saying this is the place to land your next job, but I wanted to provide a forum for reaching out for help, ideas, feedback, contacts, etc., in the hopes that we can help hook each other up!

Thanks for the acknowledgement, Rochele. Just to be clear, by a “hook up”, I meant it pays to have a good mentor or sponsor to help support your goals. This person can help provide access to people and/or opportunities . However you need to have the goods in order to take advantage of the opportunities he/she provides.
