Happy New Year! (And what the heck is Monday Morning Margarita?!)

Happy Monday! Welcome to Monday Morning Margarita!

Back in August, I left my job of almost 10 years to “follow my passion” (or so I thought). Actually, I went to work for a very small, early stage start-up with a great mission that I really believed in. After only six weeks, I was informed it wasn’t a good fit and my services were no longer needed. In other words, I was FIRED. Ouch! I had never been fired before…

My immediate thought was how will I pay my bills? I had a few dollars saved, but not enough to last for more than a few months. What in the world am I supposed to do now?

Well, I’ll tell you what I decided to do. For the first time in my life, I decided to make an honest-to-goodness effort at pursuing my own dreams.

Soooo…. What’s that got to do with “Monday Morning Margarita“?

For far too long, I started every Monday waiting for Friday afternoon. At one point, I cried every Sunday night, because I dreaded going to work the next day. I DESPISED Mondays!!

I want to enjoy my life–every bit of it, every day. I want to wake up excited about and looking forward to all 7 days of the week–especially Monday, since I spent so much undue time hating it.

So I asked myself, “What are your best Mondays?” Answer: “The ones when I’m on vacation!” Although I meant it literally and wholeheartedly, metaphorically speaking, that wasn’t too far off–my ideal job shouldn’t feel like work.

Since my favorite vacation past-time is sipping margaritas on the beach, Monday Morning Margarita is the moniker I’ve given my quest. And more than that, it’s become the mindset that guides me along the way.

I welcome you to share in the journey!

Happy New Year!

  1. You hit the “nail on the head”. People are always expressing dread about Monday mornings. I hope to live thru many more of them, so I might as well enjoy. Here’s to you!

  2. I am excited about this blog and happy for you. I too am on a new journey and Monday Morning Margarita is a concept I can employ and share. 2012 is a tall, dark and handsome man of my dreams man, with a margarita in my hand for me. My poetry book will be published and I’ll be looking forward to Mondays from now on. So thanks for the blog.
