Don’t Forget To Recharge!

Happy Monday!

The importance of good old-fashioned R&R cannot be understated…

Every day, I’m reaching for a charger of some sort, to charge my MacBook, cell phone, iPad, iPod, cordless phones, electric toothbrush, etc. Gotta keep those batteries charged, else all these devices are of no use.

This weekend, I was reminded that much like my devices, I need recharging–and sometimes, not just a little bit. After weeks of high activity and minimal sleep, my mind and body crashed, reducing me to nothing more than a giant paperweight, for the entire weekend.

I couldn’t concentrate on so much as a television show… I fell asleep in the pages each time I tried to read, and kept losing my train of thought and zoning out during conversations. I was absolutely no good! So… rather than continuing to try to fight it (as if I had even the remotest chance of winning), I gave in and vegged-out.

I was hoping I’d wake up this morning feeling fully rejuvenated, but I didn’t. I’m not as bad as I was, but I’m sluggish, and I can tell I still need more sleep. BUT I HAVE STUFF TO DO!

So here’s my plan: I’ll focus on getting done only those things that absolutely must be done today. I’ll take frequent, but brief, breaks during the day, to keep my mind as crisp as possible. (I have a lot of writing to do today, and it’s the one thing I don’t do well at all, when I’m tired.)  I’ll eat brain foods, (Yes! Chocolate and nuts are on the list of foods that help you concentrate. Whoo hoo!) and I’ll go to bed as early as possible. I’ll continue to do this each day, until I’m back to normal.

On a larger note, I realize I must build regular–and sufficient–R & R into my routine. Hmmm… not sure how I’ll do it, but I’m already looking forward to the fun I’ll have figuring it out! (I’m starting to feel more energized already.)

Make today an awesome day! And let me know what you do to ensure you get enough R & R.

I love Mondays!

  1. Just like a rechargeable battery, sometimes it needs to be taken all the way down. “Let it die” as you will. Then it can charge to its full capacity. Take a day to :energize”. I don’t know how I ensure I get enough R&R; I’m always in Sleep mode! Ha Ha.
